The Role

Our Data Engineering & AI team is growing! We’re looking for a Data Architect to join our team in London.

In this role you will set the design principles for our data platform and make sure everything we build lives up to them. You’ll own the architecture of QiCore, our new data warehouse, bring acquired businesses into it cleanly and lay the foundations our AI plans depend on.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the target architecture for QiCore and act as design authority for every build that lands in it

• Establish clear approaches to customer identity, PII, consent, data classification, retention and access controls, working with relevant security, privacy and governance stakeholders.

• Lead the migration of Rewards into our warehouse and single customer view, then turn it into a repeatable pattern for future acquisitions

• Define the modelling, governance and data quality standards our engineers build to, and review work against them before it ships

• Stay hands-on: prototype pipelines, unblock engineers on daily design questions and lead a small team of data engineers

• Translate business needs into data design with Tech, Analytics and commercial teams, so the platform is ready for our AI ambitions

About You

• Proven enterprise or data architecture experience, with a warehouse or lakehouse you designed running in production

• Hands-on data engineering: you still write SQL and Python, and can build and debug pipelines yourself

• Strong understanding of PII, data privacy, access control and governance, with experience designing solutions for both identifiable and anonymous/pseudonymous customer data

• Deep knowledge of big data platforms, ETL and ELT patterns, and data governance frameworks

• Experience consolidating acquired businesses or legacy platforms into a single data model

• High standards for quality, and the clarity to explain design trade-offs to engineers and non-technical stakeholders

• You thrive when working as part of a team

• Comfortable in a fast-paced environment

• Have excellent written and verbal English skills

• Last but not least, you’ll have no ego!
