We’re looking for an experienced Yard Assistant to join our growing team at Calne.

The Yard Assistant is responsible for ensuring our HGVs and specialist vehicles, yard, and workshop areas are maintained to the highest standards, alongside assisting with the movement and delivery of vehicles.

What will you be doing?

As a Yard Assistant carrying out thorough vehicle washes on chassis and bodies to a standard fit for inspection, MOT, or hire as well as valeting cab interiors.

You will perform general labouring duties within the workshop and engineering areas to maintain a safe working environment.

You will be responsible for keeping the yard, car park, and wash bay areas clean and tidy, reporting any equipment misuse or damage.

You will assist with the movement and delivery of vehicles.

What are we looking for?

You'll ideally have:

• HGV / commercial vehicle experience – ideally from a Yard Assistant, HGV Valeter or similar fleet support role.
• Class 2 HGV license.
• Experience working around HGVs, specialist or municipal vehicles is a big plus.
• Basic mechanical knowledge and an understanding of commercial vehicle assets is a plus.
• Experience preparing vehicles for MOT, inspection or hire with the ability to spot, record and report defects with vehicles, equipment and tooling.
• A strong communicator who works well with different teams and takes feedback on board.
• Confident handling and manoeuvring large vehicles in a busy workshop or yard environment.
