Job description
Two positions available
Role Overview
The Credit Information Governance Body (CIGB) is seeking to appoint two experienced Policy Analysts to strengthen its policy, research, and analytical capabilities.
Successful candidates will have substantial experience in policy, regulation, and/or applied policy research, with a strong focus on credit information or similar sectors. The successful role holder will also have a strong record of translating complex evidence into clear, practical, and defensible policy positions.
This is an analytical role requiring individuals who are comfortable working autonomously, managing complex policy projects and engaging confidently with senior stakeholders. In particular, candidates must be capable of developing, presenting, and defending policy analysis and recommendations at Board level, including where issues are technically complex, commercially sensitive, or subject to competing stakeholder views.
The Policy Analysts will undertake high-quality quantitative and qualitative research, assess the costs, benefits, and wider impacts of policy options, and contribute to the development of an evidence-led policy framework for the CIGB.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead and contribute to the development of CIGB policy.
• Undertake detailed research and policy analysis to identify emerging issues, evaluate policy options, and support evidence-based decision-making.
• Produce high-quality policy papers, Board papers, briefings, consultation documents, reports, and recommendations for senior decisionmakers.
• Develop policy proposals from initial problem definition through to options appraisal, recommendation, implementation, and evaluation.
• Present complex policy issues clearly and persuasively to the CIGB Board, senior management, and other governance forums.
• Confidently defend analytical conclusions, and policy recommendations, under challenge, demonstrating sound judgement and a strong command of the supporting evidence.
• Undertake cost-benefit analysis and impact assessment of policy proposals.
• Analyse and interpret quantitative and qualitative data, and relevant evidence to inform policy development.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues across the CIGB and with external stakeholders to ensure policy work reflects a broad evidence base.
• Build constructive relationships with government departments, regulators, industry bodies, and other relevant stakeholders.

environment.
• A strong record of developing policy recommendations from complex evidence.
• Experience of preparing high-quality papers and recommendations for Boards, executive committees, senior
stakeholders, or equivalent senior decision-making bodies.
• Experience of presenting policy analysis to senior stakeholders and confidently responding to scrutiny and
challenge.
• Practical experience of cost-benefit analysis, impact assessments, or comparable analytical techniques.
• Strong experience of analysing and interpreting quantitative and qualitative data for policy purposes.
Knowledge and Technical Skills
• A strong understanding of the principles of evidence-based policymaking.
• The ability to undertake robust quantitative and qualitative analysis and explain findings to key stakeholders.

• Experience working within regulatory, consulting, economic or public policy circles.
• Experience analysing large datasets or working with statistical or data-analysis tools.
