Quality Engineer - Hinkley Point

Ledwood are looking to recruit an experienced Quality Engineer to join our team at Hinkley Point C.
Where our contract is for the Mechanical Equipment Erection Works within the turbine buildings. Each building consists of 38 packages of equipment ranging from small 2Te pumps to a 2,440Te condenser. Overall, Ledwood will be installing 12,750Te of equipment as part of Arabelle’s work supplying two conventional power islands for Hinkley Point C, which include the Arabelle steam turbine. The Arabelle turbines at Hinkley Point C will be the largest ever built, longer than an Airbus 380 and capable of producing 1,770 MW each.
The Role
Provide quality assurance and control oversight for the new build of the nuclear construction project, ensuring compliance, traceability and continuous improvement.
Your new position will involve:
- Perform inspections, surveillance, and verification activities across the assigned work scope in compliance with company, client and nuclear codes and standards.
- Develop and implement quality assurance and quality control programs specific to nuclear construction activities
- Communicate and train project personnel on QMS requirements including Nuclear Safety Culture.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory bodies such as ONR (Office for Nuclear Regulation) and IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency)
- Review and approve Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), quality records, weld documentation, and supplier certifications
- Conduct root cause analyses and manage Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and Corrective Actions
- Liaise with the client & NNB quality teams during audits, witness points, and hold points
- Ensure documentation traceability for lifetime quality records in compliance with NNB (Nuclear New Build) standards
- Interface with contractors, suppliers, and internal teams to monitor and verify quality processes ensuring they are fit for purpose.
- Monitor and measure the efficiency of the QMS and ensuring its improvement through the project lifecycle.
- Collect, Analise and Report quality data to provide insights to support decision making process.
- Promote continuous improvement in quality culture and nuclear safety culture principles across the site

Qualifications & Experience Requirements:
- Previous experience as a Quality Engineer in nuclear setting with qualifications required in the following:
- Recognised Apprenticeship in relevant discipline - Required
- Recognised Engineering Qualification (ONC / BTEC / C&G) - Required
- Recognised Welding Inspection/Engineer Certificate Issued by TWI/CSWIP/PCN - Required
- Member/Associate member of chartered quality institute - Required
- CCNSG safety passport OR HS&E MAPS - Required
- Be proficient in Microsoft applications
